Melissa Campbell Garden Design for Melbourne Gardeners
About
I am a qualified Landscape designer and Horticulturist passionate about creating unique gardens that reflect the local environment and support wildlife by using indigenous and native Australian plants. My focus has shifted towards designing and building sustainable gardens that enhance biodiversity. My artistic background helps me choose plants with varied colors, shapes, and textures while considering soil conditions and sunlight. I have knowledge in sustainable practices, permaculture, and plant health, including how to identify pests and diseases. I believe in nurturing healthy soil through compost and managing pests without chemicals.
I volunteer at Westgate Biodiversity Bili Nursery and work as a garden guide for the City of Melbourne's Gardens for Wildlife program.
I have a strong background in landscape design, information services, and cultural heritage management. With a Master’s degree in Australian Studies, I understand the Australian environment and its culture, which I use in my landscape projects. My Diplomas in Information Services and Museum Studies enhance my research and analysis skills, ensuring designs reflect the client’s heritage and match the house's architectural style, creating a sense of place.
My Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art gives me a keen eye for detail and composition, vital for creating balanced landscapes. My project and client management skills help streamline the design process and ensure clear communication, allowing projects to be completed on time and meet client needs.
I prioritise sensitivity throughout the project, making sure each design respects the site’s unique features and surroundings. Attention to detail is critical in landscape design, and my administrative skills support thorough planning and execution, leading to successful designs that enhance both function and beauty.
